BARC is working with Futura Systems, Inc. of Tucker , Georgia to create a modern electric utility outage management system for the benefit of the BARC membership.  This system will integrate industry standard engineering and mapping software from ESRI , outage management software from Milsoft Utility Solutions, Inc. , and BARC’s automatic meter reading system to create an outage management system that will give our dispatchers and outage managers the tools to locate outages quickly on a live, computerized electronic map of the BARC power system. 

When you call BARC to report a power outage the person you talk to will enter that information into the outage management system.  Our automatic meter reading system will also be able to detect and confirm outages throughout the power system.  Your outage will be displayed on a map of the BARC electric system along with all other outages that have been reported.  The computer system will recommend to the Outage Manager the most likely cause of the outage, thus allowing rapid and accurate troubleshooting, decision making and dispatching of repair crews.

In addition, if you call back later to ask about your outage BARC personnel will have the tools at hand to answer your questions more accurately.
