Member Service Reps
Responsibilities
The Member Service folks at BARC handle many different responsibilities, from general billing questions to connects, disconnects, and handling applications for new service. These ladies are often the ones that greet members at the window and are usually the first ones you speak to when calling in. On an average day, they process about 500 payments that come in through the mail, take anywhere from 10 to 50 payments at the window, and input several credit card payments for members calling in. But they are here to do a lot more than help members make payments on their accounts. The ladies assist people every day in understanding their bills better, in receiving assistance from outside agencies on their accounts, and helping new, current, and previous members with information on their accounts. They also assist all other departments at BARC with different aspects of their responsibilities.
With over 75 total years of experience these ladies are very capable in their responsibilities and duties. They are often called upon to find information, some of which has been filed away for 30 years or more, and they never fail to get what is necessary.
The next time you call into BARC, know that you are most likely talking to one of these friendly and courteous ladies, and thank them for taking care of your issue or getting you to the person you need to take care of it.

IT Department
Responsibilities
The IT Department at BARC handles a variety of different duties. These duties range from handling the in-house data network to taking numerous photos of BARC's territory, many of which can be found on the various web pages of this site. Our IT Department is involved in billing, including drafting accounts and credit cards for payments, maintaining the customer database and the hardware and software to handle this, building and maintaining the computer systems and servers throughout the business, working with other departments to implement different programs, such as the outage management system, load control system, SCADA system, etc..., and a number of other duties as they arise.
We like to think that we have one of the most efficient IT Departments around as a single person, Mike Smith. He is the one person handling all of these duties. He is often the one that answers questions that come in through the co-op email and helps consumers trying to log in to pay their bills online. As a certified First Aid and Safety trainer, Mike also handles all of our CPR, First Aid, and AED training for all of the BARC employees.
Mike also enjoys coming to your child's classroom or organization to present the BARC safety display, so see our page on Educational Programs for more information.
Warehouse and Garage
The warehouse and garage is manned by Ernie Deel and Steve Nelson. Their duties range from purchasing to diagnosing and working on the vehicles to mowing the grass at the office. These two act as a catchall for a lot of different areas. Ernie handles the purchasing and receiving at the co-op along with preparing the material for the jobs that the construction crews take out. He also oversees the garage and helps schedule the maintenance on the co-op vehicles. Ernie spent some time in the Engineering Department and still helps out there with the recording of easements with the various county governments.
Steve handles the majority of the work on the vehicles. He takes care of the oil changes, tire changes and balancing, and other repairs as necessary. He also helps out in the warehouse with making up jobs, receiving material and stocking the shelves. He and Ernie also handle a lot of the "odd jobs" that come up around the office from time to time.
